Ultra Clear Glass Lens suitable for Maglite Torches Introduced in late 2002, this lens is constructed from low-iron float glass (aka water-white) and has a multi-layer broadband anti-reflective coating applied to both sides. The combination of water-white substrate and anti-reflective coating makes this lens a top performer and the only choice for those looking to achieve the best optical performance. The ultra clear glass lenses come highly recommended by TheTorchSite, they make a significant difference in performance to your torch from the standard plastic lens. The 2.84mm thickness lens is only recommended for use with the TerraLUX TLE-300M-EX upgrade as this does not require the use of a reflector. Add LDF? (Light Diffusion Film)* LDF stands for "Light Diffusion Film." GE brand Lexan® that has a slight texture to it and using an optical adhesive is applied to one side of the lens. This results in more of a flood-like beam pattern. It will smooth out the worst beam. The overall light output is almost unchanged - it’s just spread out more. Be warned though, this coating will kill the throw of the light. Only choose the lens with this coating if you like a really smooth diffused beam with lots of side-spill. We recommend placing the LDF side of the lens toward the bulb for protection against scratching. We particularly recommend the diffusion film as a choice if you wish to use your Maglite as a camping light or similar, the diffused light is perfect for lighting a tent etc. NB. Please use 'Please select' option button to choose lens thickness and with the 1.90mm thickness choose either clear or LDF added (diffused light) lens. |
