Compact dimensions belie the power that lies at the heart of the LD40. The LD40 carries 4 x AA batteries for a large energy reserve. Using 4 x 2500 mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries the LD40 contains the capacity to deliver a searing 248 lumens for 3 hours 13 minutes at the highest output, or 4 lumens emergency light for 245 hours (10.2 days) at the lowest output.

Four constant lighting levels in total offer a useful array of output/runtime combinations for any situation.

Whilst the new dual tail cap switch system provides simple one handed operation, the black button activates the light with momentary or constant-on functions, whilst the stainless steel dimmer/mode button cycles between constant lighting mode (4 levels) and flashing mode (3 levels) with a long press. A short press of the button then cycles levels in either mode.
